Rocking her ridiculously beautiful canary diamond wedding ring, Alicia Keys is being her usual earthy yet edgy self in the new issue of VIBE magazine.  In YBF's exclusive outtake shot, Alicia rocks only a red leather jacket and a set of colorful strings in place of a shirt, and her black lipstick.  She dishes on the love she shares with her husband in her first real interview in years.  And yes, her man Swizz (Kasseem Dean) was a part of the interview too.

An excerpt from their cover story:

"My credit card was in his pocket,” Keys finishes the story, eyes wide. “Why was my credit card in his pocket?”

One explanation might be that he’d grabbed it by accident when they split the check, but that would be too prosaic. They saw the credit card debacle as a sign, the first of many. Well, second, if you count the time, 14 years ago, when they first met and Dean tried unsuccessfully to get her number from his friend. “It wasn’t our time yet,” he says with a smile.

Singer/actress Rihanna, Olympian Usain Bolt, rapper Nicki Minaj and Prime Minister of Jamaica Portia Simpson-Miller are nominees on the Time 100 list of world influencers which also includes George Clooney, Warren Buffet, Barack Obaman and Lady Gaga.

Inside she talks about her break up with Chris Brown and the criticisms she’s received after their reconciliation, which she initiated. The Bajan beauty also talks about why she is in no rush to have kids and finding the right guy. Peep the experts and photo spread below:

On breaking up with Chris Brown
It gave me guns. I was like, well, f*ck. They know more about me than I want them to know. It’s embarrassing. But that was my opening. That was my liberation, my moment of bring it. […] Now you know that, so you can say what you want about it. I don’t have anything to hide.

On how she has been able to deal with the backlash since their reconciliation
The bottom line is that everyone thinks differently. It’s very hard for me to accept, but I get it. People end up wasting their time on the blogs or whatever, ranting away, and that’s all right. Because tomorrow I’m still going to be the same person. I’m still going to do what I want to do.

On having kids

Dancehall newcomer and VP Records artist Potential Kidd just lost an endorsement deal with Telecommunications company LIME who was using is viral hit “Yah Suh Nice” in a Champs promotion.

For those of you who may not know, Boys & Girls Champs (won by Calabar and Edwin Allen High respectively) is an annual high school athletic meet which is followed by Jamaicans at home and abroad. It is a major sporting event on the island and gets massive media coverage. Obviously with LIME targeting the youth market, it would have given Potential Kidd even greater prominence in media.

Thing is, the song is controversial. Basically he is saying a woman’s private part is so nice, he would never become a homosexual, he would rather rape than turn gay. Reports were that the lyrics would have been changed but now after further analysis it is being dropped all together.

“What we would want is for our artistes to express themselves freely but responsibly, and we think civil society can play a big role in this regard,” says LIME Jamaica’s Managing Director Gary Sinclair.

Potential Kidd has since apologized for any harm the lyrics may have cause to any person.

“I do not support violence against women or homosexuals,” Kidd said.

Yesterday, April 3, Nicki Minaj hit the 106 & Park Stage to talk about her sophmore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and perform some traks along with her special guests Cam’ron and 2 Chainz.

The Barb Empire head wore flowery Roberto Cavalli top with matching leggings, Alexander McQueen heels, and a shiny new Roman necklace.What Barb outfit would be complete without a colored wig eh? She sported a curly pink wig to match her outfit.

After kicking off her heels, the shoeless star ran, jumped and wined through her new material including “Roman Reloaded,” “HOV Lane,” “I Am Your Leader” with Cam’ron, “Beez in the Trap” with 2 Chainz, and “Champion” of course her hypeman Safaree Samuels joined her and her guests on those tracks. She returned with three backup singers to perform “Right By My Side” and “Fire Burns.”

Birdman also sat in on the fun.

 

Apart from her performance, her Barbz got in the mix too, modelling some of her signature looks in a fashion show and dancing to “Starships” in a flash mob.

“I love you guys so much,” Minaj told her loyal fans. “You will never understand how you changed my life.”

Missing in action was Beenie Man who was scheduled to to perform the single “Gun Shot” with the Young Money rapper, but had to cancel at last minute due to visa restrictions. When asked by host Terrance J who was on the album, she counted off:

“Ok lemme start from top to bottom: Rick Ross, Cam’ron, 2 Chainz, Nas, Jeezy, Drake, and Lil Wayne of course, Bobby Valentino and Chris Brown”

The artists mentioned were on the first ten tracks, while Beenie is on the one before the last track. I’m sure it was not on purpose but that was a very obvious omission, at least for us Caribbeans, who already knew Beenie was to have joined her on stage that day.

I guess his reaction to that would be “I’m Ok”. I kid, I kid….

In other Nicki News the Head Barbz in charge recently talked to Funkmaster Flex about working with some other female rappers in the game including Lauryn Hill:

 ”I wanted to get her on ‘Champion’.That would have been crazy, right? She was my fave.  Lauryn to me was the goddess. I’d love to meet her. I’m pretty sure she’s heard me talk about her a billion times.”

Nicki Minaj also gave some props to other female veteran rappers before her including Remy Ma and Foxy Brown.

“Remy at one time brought back this energy that was almost palpable. When the ‘Ante Up’ verse came out, if you ain’t know her, you knew her then.”
“Foxy was one of my faves. I had connected with her a lot just because she’s Trini and I’m Trini, and I always thought if I meet her, she would understand me. Foxy Brown was my friend in my head.“

“That would be something that I would have to give my entire life to do because I would want to really pull it off. That’s a huge, huge role and whoever does it has to do a good job.”

“My first song that I remember falling in love with was a Whitney Houston song — ‘I Will Always Love You,’” Rihanna said. “It was really inspiring and it made me develop a passion for music, so really she’s partly responsible for me being here in this industry.”

Church is anything but boring at the Light of Word Ministries in White Oak, Ohio.  Pastor Mike Scruggs is on a mission to save "marriage"  so he put a stripper pole (as well as a bed) in the pulpit for his series of sermons on marriage called "Battle Of The Sexes."  And guess what....he had a packed house!

Pastor Scruggs also scattered dollar bills, lacy lingerie and killer high heels at the base of the neon pink pole.  On the opposite end of what men want, he had a stage for candy, roses, teddy bears, and a bottle of wine (for what women want).  

Scruggs defends his teaching saying:

"We talk about sex. We talk about drugs. We talk about faith. We talk about relationships ... , things that people are dealing with on a day-to-day basis.

On one side [we'll have] what men want or desire: your stripper pole, your video games, your sports.  The woman's side [is] orderly, neat. It's all about love, candy, teddy bears, roses and being wined and dined and cherished."

No word yet on how many marriages (or souls) were saved.

Rihanna rocked this Fall 2012 Emilio Pucci blue and gold metallic pantsuit/pajamas style look for her big premiere.  Apparently pajama style is all the rage because we've seen Rih in this look before as well as other celeb red carpet staples.

She kept her jewelry gold toned and tan heels for the occasion.

Nice.  Battleship premieres May 18th.

On his Facebook fan page this past Sunday, Tyler Perry discussed the Trayvon Martin case.  But most importantly, he revealed a very recent racial profiling incident he experienced with Atlanta police.  Read it here:

A few days before President Obama was supposed to speak at my studio, I was leaving the studio, headed to the airport. Most times when I leave the studio I have an unmarked escort. Other times I constantly check in my rearview mirror to be sure that I'm not being followed. It’s a safety precaution that my security team taught me. As I got to an intersection, I made a left turn from the right lane and was pulled over by two police officers. I pulled the car over and put it in park. Then, I let the window down and sat in the car waiting for the officer. The officer came up to the driver’s door and said that I made an illegal turn. I said, "I signaled to get into the turning lane, then made the turn because I have to be sure I’m not being followed." He said, “why do you think someone would be following you?”

Before I could answer him, I heard a hard banging coming from the passenger window. I had never been in this position before so I asked the officer who was at my window what was going on and why is someone banging on the window like that. He said, “let your window down, let your window down. Your windows are tinted.” As I let down the passenger window, there was another officer standing on the passenger side of the car. He said, “what is wrong with you?” The other officer said to him, “he thinks he’s being followed.” Then, the second officer said, “why do you think someone is following you? What is wrong with you?”

Before I could answer the officer on the passenger side, the one on the driver's side had reached into the car and started pulling on the switch that turns the car on and off, saying, “put your foot on the brake, put your foot on the brake!” I was so confused as to what he was doing, or what he thought he was doing. It looked like he was trying to pull the switch out of the dashboard. I finally realized that he thought that switch was the key, so I told him that it wasn’t the key he was grabbing. I reached down into the cup holder to get the key, not realizing that the key had a black leather strap on it. As I grabbed it they both tensed up and I dropped it as I heard my mother’s voice from when I was a little boy.

My mother would always say to me, “if you get stopped by the police, especially if they are white policemen, you say ‘yes sir’ and ‘no sir’, and if they want to take you in, you go with them. Don’t resist, you hear me? Don’t make any quick moves, don’t run, you just go.” My mother was born in 1945 into a segregated hotbed town in rural Louisiana. She had known of many colored men at the time who were lynched and never heard from again. Since I was her only son for ten years, growing up she was so worried about me. It wasn’t until after I heard her voice that I realized that both of these officers were white.
 

The officer on the driver's side continued to badger me, “why do you think someone is following you?” I then said, “I think you guys need to just write the ticket and do whatever you need to do.” It was so hostile. I was so confused. It was happening so fast that I could easily see how this situation could get out of hand very quickly. I didn’t feel safe at all. But one officer stopped his questioning and said, “we may not let you go. You think you’re being followed, what’s wrong with you?” At this point, I told him that I wanted to get out of the car. I wanted the passersby to see what was happening.

As I stepped out of the car another officer pulled up in front of my car. This officer was a black guy. He took one look at me and had that “Oh No” look on his face. He immediately took both officers to the back of my car and spoke to them in a hushed tone. After that, one of the officers stayed near his car while one came back, very apologetic.

I said all of that to say this: do you see how quickly this could have turned for the worse?

Now I know that there are many great officers, patrolmen and security guys out there. I am aware of that. But although we have made significant strides with racial profiling in this country, the world needs to know that we are still being racially profiled, and until this situation has improved greatly, I’m not sure how a murder in Florida can be protected by a “stand your ground law.”

And in another case that I have been screaming at the top of my lungs about, also in Florida, is the case of Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos, a young black man and a young Mexican man. Eight years ago, in Naples, FL, they were both put in the back of Deputy Steve Calkins' police car and never heard from again.

They were never arrested, never brought to jail. They were put into the back of Deputy Calkins' car and never heard from again. And to this day Deputy Steve Calkins is a free man.

I guess it's time to march in Naples now.

RACIAL PROFILING SHOULD BE A HATE CRIME INVESTIGATED BY THE FBI!!!

That way local government can’t make the decision on whether or not these people get punished.

During Reggae Month (Feb.) West Coast rapper Snoop Dogg was in Jamaica working on a full Reggae album. It’s now confirmed that Diplo of Major Lazer is producing the LP

The  producer who have worked with Beyonce, M.I.A and Vybz Kartel told MTV News:

“Snoop Dogg is an icon, he’s bigger than the music. What we’re doing is a reggae record.

It’s all reggae and he’s singing and he’s doing a f***ing awesome job and I never knew it, but he had his heart in every song.” 

The album Reincarnated is due out later this year and will have 18 tracks. Diplo (whose behind Usher’s “Climaxx”) said he and Snoop are going back into the studio next month

“We’re going to get back into the production of it next month, and I’m really proud of that record. It’s the first record I’ve ever executive-produced and his crew is amazing”.

I hope then come back to Jamaica to record. Snoop Dogg spent a week in the birthplace of Reggae in February, recording  material for the album  and filming footage for his upcoming documentary. He also recorded three new tracks with popular dancehall star Popcaan.

Twenty designers gathered in Hope Gardens with the task of turning Granny nightgowns into outfits fit for a garden party. Judges Keneea Linton-George, host and Mission Catwalk executive producer; celebrated menswear designer Carlton Brown and CEO of Guyana fashion week Sonia Noel, looked on as the contestants made a mad dash for scissors, pins, needles, trimming and other tools of the trade which were scattered throughout the grounds.

They had to fashion the designs on their models… contestant Keshon Hawthorne had me in stitches with his constant mention of his ka-tour style.

Unfortunately five designers had to go home: . Jamaicans Tracey-Ann Morrison, Nicholas Mendez, Turac Samuels, Semoy Lawson-Lee, and Belizean Victor Caliz failed to impress judges with their pieces.

Beenie Man was to perform with Nicki Minaj on BET’s 106 & Park tonight but without a US work permit, that’s just not gonna happen.

The Grammy-winning “King Of the Dancehall” would have perfromed “Gunshot” which he recorded Anchor Recording Studions in St. Andrew some weeks aback. The song is featured on Nicki’s Pink Friday: Roman Rloaded album which drops today in the US

According to Claude Mills Beenie Man’s publicist, management agreed to the performance NOT KNOWING that he could not perform without the visa; and was advised SUNDAY by a visa consultant that he would violate his US visa by performing on the show.

“Whenever you do a live performance on BET or MTV, you are paid a performance royalty and that would be deemed work,”

OK Can we call bullshit here? First of all bad bad bad move by management. Do you guys recall that in September last year Beenie Man was on the Reggae Rhythm & Blues Festival in NY and did not perform for that very reason? meaning he did not perform because he did not have a permit. So having been through that process of knowing that any performance done by the artist where he will receive monetary benefit, whether in cash or royalties, how can you now say oh we didn’t know. Like that’s your j-o-b son.

I am also based on the publicists words that they did not specifically request a permit specifically for the performance and if they had done so, I would think they would consult with the visa expert before Sunday.

Beenie Man (real name Moses David) has been on 106 & Park twice before so maybe its not a big deal, but considering that Nicki Minaj is the one of, if not the hottest urban artist out on the scene right now; performing with her on a popular show the day her album comes out is a pretty sweet opportunity.

Beenie is working on his album which will feature some international acts. This easter weekend he will be very busy with performances in Portland on Friday; two days later he will be in action at the Cran Wata Boston Jerk Festival. Easter Monday will see Beenie Man at the International Kite Festival in St Ann, then later on in the evening he is scheduled to perform in St Catherine at the Portmore Seafood Festival.

It’s not confirmed if he will still appear on the show.

37 year-old Mirlande Wilson is refusing to split her share of the  historic $640 million Mega Millions jackpot won by three super lucky ticket holders last Friday.

The mother of seven was part of a pool along with her McDonald’s co-workers but says her winning ticket was bought separately.  She tells the NY Post:

“We had a group plan, but I went and played by myself. [The winning ticket] wasn’t on the group plan….
I was in the group, but this was separate. The winning ticket was a separate ticket.” 

The other winning tickets were sold in Kansas and IllinoisIf she has the winning maryland ticket Wilson would get an after-tax lump sum of $105 million, or $5.59 million a year for 26 years.

Her co-workers are hopping mad that they won’t get a share of that jackpot:

“She can’ t do this to us!” said Suleiman Osman Husein, a shift manager and one of 15 members in the pool. “We each paid $5. She took everybody’s money!”
A man identifying himself as the boyfriend of a McDonald’s manager named Layla, who was part of the pool, said Wilson bought tickets for the group at the 7-Eleven in Milford Mill, where the winning ticket was sold.
The group’s tickets — along with a list of those who contributed to the pool — were left in an office safe at the burger joint, said the man, who gave only his first name, Allen, as he stood next to Layla. She declined to comment.
Then, late Friday, before the night’s drawing, the owner of the McDonald’s, Birul Desai, gave Wilson $5 to buy more tickets for the pool on her way home from work, and she went back to the 7-Eleven and bought them, Allen said.
Wilson took those tickets home with her, Allen said.
But Wilson insisted yesterday that she had bought the second batch with an unidentified pal — not for the pool — and that the winning ticket was among them.
A day earlier, a delirious Wilson had called co-workers to break the news — tellingly used the first-person singular.
“I won! I won!” she cried, Allen said.
Another colleague, Davon Wilson, no relation, said he was there when Mirlande Wilson called.
“She said, ‘Turn on the news.’ She said she had won. I thought it was a joke or something. She doesn’t seem like a person who’d do this,” he said.
Allan said he and Layla went to Wilson’s home and pounded on the door for 20 minutes until she finally came out.
“These people are going to kill you. It’s not worth your life!” Allen said he told her.
“All right! All right! I’ll share, but I can’t find the ticket right now,” she finally said, according to Allen.
Yohannes Michael, a clerk at the 7-Eleven where Wilson bought the tickets, expressed doubts about her story when he said yesterday that lottery officials have reviewed the store’s video and believe that a man bought the winning ticket. Lottery rep Carole Everett would not confirm that.

Camille Grammer threatened her boyfriend Dimitri Charalambopoulos' ex-girlfriend and baby mama to his five year old son, Marcus, in a telephone conversation that was recorded and played during a videotaped deposition, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Grammer decided to not return for a third season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills because she wouldn't be featured as a series regular.

During a videotaped deposition Dimitri was asked to listen to a phone call that took place between Camille and his baby mama, Lisa, in which Camille threatens her if she goes to the press. "If you go to the press, I have lawyers that are beyond what you can imagine and they will pull stuff on you and you will be so mortified about your life and your family and what you have done. You don't want to do that to Marcus. I will desecrate you, believe me, and that I can do, so be careful what you say and what you do because my defamation attorneys are huge..they will hunt down and research every nook and cranny of your life," Camille says during the phone call. It's unclear when the phone call took place, or who recorded it.

In the video, Dimitri, wearing a black hoody and white t-shirt, is asked if he recognizes Camille's voice when he hears it and responds yes, and after listening to it asks, "Is there a reason I have to listen to all of this?"

Lisa's attorney asks Dimitri if he thinks it's ok that Camille threatens his ex and his son, and he replies, "I'm not going to answer that because I didn't hear the rest of the conversation and I don't want to hear the whole conversation...I didn't hear a threat and I don't know what that conversation was about and it was a little snippet and that has absolutely nothing to do with this...I didn't hear a threat, it sounded more like a rebuttal."

Dimitri then storms out of the deposition after refussing to discuss the phone conversation further.

Kelsey Grammer's former wife is no stranger to custody battles as Camille only recently reached a custody agreement with her ex over custody of their two children.

Meanwhile, Camille has been telling friends that wedding bells could be in the future with Dimitri. "Camille is the happiest she has been in years and she says Dimitri is one of the reasons why," a source close to the couple told RadarOnline.com. "Dimitri loves and respects Camille very much and encourages her in all of her business ventures. Camille never thought she would find love again after her marriage ended to Kelsey because she truly believed that she was going to be married to him for the rest of her life. Camille has been telling her friends that she could easily see herself married to Dimitri. Does this mean that he is close to proposing? Not yet. However, it's definitely going in that direction."

Today contributor Star Jones was livid that Sarah Palin was featured on Today Tuesday morning and that she had to appear on a segment with the former governor of Alaska, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

Palin co-hosted the second hour of Today in a bid to up ratings as Katie Couric is filling in this week for vacationing Robin Roberts on rival show Good Morning America.

During Matt Lauer's interview with Palin in the first hour of the show she referred to the press as "lamestream media" at least three times and Jones couldn't believe Matt didn't address those comments. "Star was watching the interview in the green room and she was absolutely floored that Sarah Palin as a guest on the Today show was basically calling everyone on set lame," a show insider tells RadarOnline.com exclusively. "Star was incensed that Sarah was allowed to make such inflammatory comments. Star is the consummate professional and couldn't fathom why Sarah would be so negative as a guest and Star was livid about the comments."

The former co-host of The View was on a panel with Palin, called Ask The Experts, during the second hour of Today. "Star could barely look at Sarah and insisted that she be seated on the opposite end from her," the source says. "Star is a lawyer, a former prosecutor and has worked very hard in her life to get where she is. Star didn't understand why Sarah was on the panel because she doesn't have anything worth contributing. Star also didn't believe Sarah when she said that she hadn't seen Julianne Moore playing her in the movie Game Change."

Jones later wrote on Twitter that Palin was gracious and offered to cook for her if she ever visited Alaska, but it doesn't sound like that will be happening anytime soon!

"Gov @SarahPalinUSA was gracious, offered to cook for me when I'm back in Alaska & cracked up when I said: 'meet you on campaign trail.' LOL,"  Jones wrote, but when asked by a fan if she was now going to "hang out with Republicans," the feisty lawyer replied, "LOL...Bite your tongue! I'd rather eat nails.

Kate Gosselin isn't taking former dance partner Tony Dovolani's comments laying down, and RadarOnline.com has learned the single mother of eight "doesn't regret a single moment" and dedicated an entire blog to Tony's appearance on Anderson Cooper's show.

Since Kate's crushing elimination on Dancing with the Stars, Tony said last week that he was "still traumatized by that experience" and that "there was a lot of therapy involved" afterwards.

Kate, 37, took to her Coupon Cabin blog on Monday saying Tony's comments came as a surprise!
